Welcome Guest Writer, my husband, Mike.
Mates- skip the indoor snow skiing, biking the city, and window licking the private shops along the canals in Amsterdam. The Heineken VIP Tour is by far the number one thing to do for guys in the city that all can enjoy, here is why.

The Heineken VIP Tour Experience at a Glance
The Heineken VIP Tour Experience is more than just a standard brewery visit. It is an immersive, behind-the-scenes journey into the history, craftsmanship, and the global impact of one of the most iconic beer brands. The cost will run you €55/person in 2023 (updated 2026 the cost is now €65/person); however, even with the cost, it is worth it, bar none. Go solo or with a group; great for a guy’s trip or with anyone who enjoys beer. I recommend booking early as there is a limit to the amount of people who can experience the VIP Tour.
The Tour
From the moment you arrive in one of the daily three (10:00 am, 1:00 pm, 4:00 pm) or six time slots (10:00 am, 11:00 am, 1:00 pm, 2:00 pm, 4:00 pm, 5:00 pm), this VIP tour provides exclusive access and hospitality to its guests. Limited to a small group size (estimate – 10 people max) ensures a relaxed pace and offers meaningful interaction with knowledgeable guides who bring the Heineken story to life. You skip the long line of waiting in the normal walkthrough tour and head to an area where you and the remaining tour members meet up.
The experience typically begins with a warm welcome and an introduction to the brand’s origins, tracing Heineken’s roots from its founding in Amsterdam in 1864 to its rise into a globally recognized name. Historical artifacts, original brewing equipment, and engaging multimedia displays helps the guests understand the brand’s legacy.
A key highlight of the VIP tour is access to areas not usually available on standard tours. VIPs gain deeper insight into the brewing process, learning about the carefully selected natural ingredients—water, malted barley, hops, and Heineken’s distinctive A-Yeast—and how they come together to create the brand’s signature taste.
Interactivity plays an important role throughout the experience. VIP tour members take part in sensory elements that explore the smell, flavor, and texture, enhancing their understanding of beer appreciation all while in a private bar with some snacks to pair with the beverages. The guides often tailor the experience to the group’s interests, whether it be the science behind brewing beers, brand marketing, or Heineken’s cultural influence through music, sports, and international events.
At the end of the tour, you still get to have a few more drinks with the main tour population and receive a special gift. At the time of my visit, I received a personalized Heineken bottle for enjoyment and an arm band. A personal highlight is discovering all the beer brands the company owns and meeting great people in the group who all are there to drink some fantastic beverages.
Pros on Doing the VIP Tour
A few good things about the tour:
- Skip the lines for attractions along the tour, even the line to get into the building
- Learn Amazing history and company culture
- Plenty to drink
- Exclusive areas only accessible for the VIP tour group
- You won’t be the only cool person on the tour- another 9 people that want to be there (10 max per tour group).
- Free Gift- I received an arm band that had little golf ball markers on it to turn in for extra drinks at the end and a personalized Heineken Bottle
Family Fun Alternatives to Heineken’s VIP Tour
If you happen to be with your significant other and she wants to stroll through other museums rather than joining you on a beer tour, offer up a VIP experience to probably the best museum in the entire city. The tour guide will make it fun for her, so don’t worry.
Here are some Activities to do in Amsterdam
If you are coming to Amsterdam with kids, the Heineken Tour is not recommended for children and more adult-focused. However, if plan to go to Heineken and the family are with you, go do the tour when there are plenty of street markets going on in the city like I did. Worst thing that can happen is your family picks up some extra flowers or antiques while you adventure off Solo. I ended up meeting some awesome beer enthusiast during my tour and we instantly had something in common to discuss along the way. Additionally, there are many kid-friendly activities to do in Amsterdam that your wife can take the kids to while you enjoy your mancation through the Heineken tour. My wife will update this blog after writing a blog post about family friendly things to do in Amsterdam.

Final Thoughts
Overall, the Heineken VIP Tour Experience is the best way to spend your time in Amsterdam. You feel curated, refined, and bring home lasting memories. It blends history, education, exclusivity, and hospitality into a cohesive experience that appeals to beer enthusiasts, brand fans, and curious travelers alike. By the end of the tour, you leave not only with a deeper appreciation for Heineken’s craftsmanship and heritage, but also with a lasting impression of a brand built on quality, innovation, and shared enjoyment.

Flights
I use both SkyScanner and Google Flights to track the best rates for flights. It searches for the best rates from hundreds of airlines to ensure you don’t miss the best deals. You can have SkyScanner and Google Flights send you notifications when flight prices have changed for the specific dates you want to fly.
Accommodations
I love using Booking.com to find our accommodations. You can filter out to your needs
and narrow down the best rates. Plus reviews are helpful when deciding which
accommodations are right for you and your family. Additionally, once you become a
Genius Level Member (based on the level and amount of times you book with
Booking.com), you can receive special discounts.
Airbnb is another favorite for booking our AccommodationS! I stick to places that have
good reviews.
Experiences and Tours
My favorite site to book tours and experiences are with GetYourGuide or Viator. They both have a range of tours and experiences on their website. However, check both sites as one may be sold out and the other may not be.
Rental Cars
I book directly towards the company’s sites to ensure I have the best deals. I compare between Booking.com’s rates and the company’s main sites.
Another option is to also check the rates from your credit card company if they offer travel rewards specials. We like to look at our Chase Sapphire and American Express travel offers as they may offer the best deals and even include insurance as part of the incentive, just double check with them and also the rental car agency if they honor this.
Transfers | Airport Pickups
For Airport Pickups, we have relied on Welcome Pickups for transfers. The drivers are reliable and it’s easy to use the Welcome Pickup Apps to reserve your transfers. Book and find more information here!
Priority Pass
Take advantage of your credit card incentives for travel. Our American Express and
Chase Sapphire offer Priority Pass. From research Platinum Card® from American
