Staying at Hilton hotels has been one of our favorite accommodations to book in Europe, they just offer a bit more amenities in my opinion. As Hilton Honors and Diamond members we typically try to book Hilton accommodations within our budget for the hotel points, amenities, and we just love staying at Hilton hotels in general. For my husband’s birthday, I wanted to surprise him with an overnight getaway, somewhere close to home. I found three Hiltons in Frankfurt, one in Frankfurt City Center, one at the Frankfurt International Airport, and the last just right outside of Frankfurt, the Hilton Frankfurt Gravenbruch. After deliberating between the three, I chose the Hilton Frankfurt Gravenbruch, for relaxation, location, and the sauna.

Hotel History
The Hilton Frankfurt Gravenbruch has a history that dates back to the 16th century. The property was originally built around the late 1500s as a manor where the hotel currently stands. A hunting lodge was then added to the manor, and the property became a hotel and popular destination for Frankfurt’s noble classes in the late 19th century. The 225-room property with 10 hectares of land was then acquired as part of the Kempinski Hotel (the five-star luxury hotel in Germany) in 1976 until it rebranded in October 2024 under Hilton.
Location
Nestled just right outside Frankfurt am Main, Germany in an urban location called Neu-Isenburg the Hilton Frankfurt Gravenbruch is surrounded by a beautiful park and lake. The hotel is the perfect location to relax, unwind, and get away from the city busy-ness. It is a 15 minute drive into the city of Frankfurt am Main and the Frankfurt International Airport, a 3-minute drive to the Autobahn (interstate), therefore it’s a great location to be as close to the city and airport as possible, while also being away from it all.
Amenities
The Hilton Frankfurt Gravenbruch offers plenty of amenities for guests. Here is a list of some of the amenities offered.
- One Indoor pool (included with standard stay)
- One heated seasonal outdoor pool (included wth standard stay) – unfortunately closed during our stay in December

- Spa and Wellness Center where you can book massages
- Tennis court

Hotel at a Glance
Upon arriving on the property, you can’t help but feel like you’re driving into a five star, beautiful luxurious hotel retreat; it didn’t feel like a typical Hilton hotel in the city. I think my husband was quite surprised as he had no idea I had booked a stay until we arrived at the property. He was really impressed with the exterior of the property and even more impressed when he stepped inside. I felt like we were staying in a huge, classy manor that sits on several acres of land surrounding parks and a lake. It truly felt like the ideal hotel to stay for relaxation!

Hotel Service
Before I go any further with our hotel room review, I wanted to highlight the customer service as this was part of what made our stay really special. Prior to booking a room, I had reached out to the hotel receptionist via email regarding booking a room as a surprise for my husband. Being that my husband was the sole carrier of the Hilton Honors and a Diamond Member, I did not want to book it under his name until we arrived, in case he was notified via email of the booking. The hotel immediately knew how to accomodate for this and I was able to reserve our stay without my husband knowing via email and phone contact.
The hotel staff followed through not letting my husband know until we checked in, and they were able to honor his Hilton Honors and Diamond Membership. Additionally, they left an unexpected, sweet birthday surprise in our hotel room for his birthday. In essence, the staff were very accommodating, courteous, and extra helpful during our stay. I was impressed with their customer service and attention to detail of the hotel.

Room Review
Finally our hotel room review. When booking for the hotel room, I decided I wanted something nice for the husband’s birthday. I booked the King Deluxe room with the lake view, which was surprisingly within our budget, under €250 per night. Besides the lake view, you also have the option to book the park view. Additionally, we booked our stay at the end of December, the day after Christmas to be exact, a quieter time during the holidays.
When we arrived, we were instantly upgraded to the King Junior Suite, I’m not sure if this was due to my husband’s Diamond status, birthday, or just simply the hotel offering the upgrade, but it was very much appreciated.
We arrived early but was told our room was not ready but we could use the hotel amenities before check-in. We utilized that time to take advantage of the saunas and indoor pool. Sadly the heated outdoor pool was closed for the season and the indoor “heated” pool was not heated as we would have liked, but the 7-saunas made up for it. Keep in mind, the saunas and indoor pool is included in a standard stay. Also, please note, the saunas are textile/clothing free, meaning there is no clothing allowed inside the saunas. You may walk around the saunas in a robe, but once inside a sauna, you’re only allowed to have a towel on. This is quite a norm in Germany, and having been to a few clothing free saunas, we were used to it and actually love it.
Checking into our King Junior Suite, we were instantly impressed with how spacious the room was. The room was clean and modern and traditional in style, although I have read some reviews of how outdated some areas of the hotel and rooms were, this didn’t seem like the case with our room. The heated bathroom floors added to the warmth of the room. Additionally, we had a balcony window with the lake view, though this cost a bit more, it was well worth it.

Executive Lounge Review
As Diamond Members, we have access to the Executive Lounge. Because of the slower time of the season, the day after Christmas, the hotel wasn’t as busy and neither were the hours for the lounge. Although I am grateful that they offer an Executive Lounge, I did find that it was lacking a bit when it came to the food appetizer options for the evening lounge, compared to all the other Hilton Executive Lounges we’ve been to in Europe that offered more varieties. The typical alcohol, wine and non-alcoholic beverages were also offered.

Breakfast and Restaurant Options
Breakfast at the beautiful Ess Tisch restaurant was included in our hotel booking and I will say, the breakfast did not disappoint. Here, you’ll find hot breakfast options, regional flairs, waffles, pancakes, an omelet station, cold meat cuts and lots of brot (breadt), and more on the breakfast buffet line menu. Additionally, an assortment of refreshments of teas, coffee, water, juices, and wine offerings to choose from.

The hotel offers five restaurants on site including an immersive dining experience at the Magic Table. From the sauna, in our bathroom robe provided by the hotel, we enjoyed a light lunch at the Lakeside Lounge, which I admit wasn’t as great as we thought, but the service was great.
As far as the other restaurants, the husband and I, however, did not eat on property, so I can’t actually give a review of the other restaurants. The Bar Lounge was actually a favorite of ours to grab drinks for the evening, it felt classy and the ambience was nice and relaxing to sit and have a date night with the husband. You can find more information about the hotel’s dining experiences, here.

Final Thoughts
A stay at the Hilton Frankfurt Gravenbruch is worth it. It’s by far one of the nicest Hilton’s we have stayed at in Germany. The ambience makes it feel less like a hotel, but more like a 5-star luxury resort; and at the time of our visit in late December, the price for a stay was within our budget. Although we stayed during the wintertime, in between the holiday season (when it is less likely busy), there were a few amenities not available at the time, like the outdoor heated pool. Additionally, it would have been nice to have a heated indoor pool; but the saunas made up for it. We chose the hotel for relaxation and it definitely delivered along with the wonderful customer service we received from the staff. Finally, it’s close enough to the city of Frankfurt and the Frankfurt International Airport, where you can escape to find all the fun things to do in the City, but far enough to escape the busy-ness of it all.
I hope you’ve found this review helpful for planning your stay near Frankfurt. Until next time friends! Bis zum nächsten Mal Freunde!
